BRIDLE MAKING WORKSHOP | SARINA
Saturday 24th October 2026
8:00am – 4:30pm
Sarina Western Performance & Equestrian Club | Sarina Showgrounds.

Come spend the day learning the foundations of traditional leather tack making and create your very own leather headstall from start to finish.
Choose between a Plain Browband Headstall or Plain One Ear Headstall when booking.
No leathercraft experience is required. Everything you need is supplied, so bring yourself, your willingness to learn and come enjoy a day with like-minded people.
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
You'll be guided step-by-step through the process of constructing your headstall using traditional leatherworking techniques, including:
• Leather selection and preparation
• Measuring and laying out components
• Trimming and punching leather
• Edge bevelling and burnishing
• Setting hardware
• Traditional hand stitching
• Tying saddlery knots
• Conditioning and finishing your leatherwork
At the end of the day, you'll take home a completed, functional leather headstall made by you.
WHAT'S INCLUDED

ABOUT THE VENUE
A big thank you to Sarina Western Performance & Equestrian Club (SWPEC) for kindly opening their clubhouse to us for the day.
You do not need to be a SWPEC member to attend.
SWPEC run a great variety of horse events and activities throughout the year for different disciplines and experience levels. Have a chat with some of their committee members on the day to learn more about the club and what they have to offer.
WHO CAN ATTEND?
This workshop is best suited to adults and older high school students who can work independently between demonstrations.
Recommended age: 16+
Ages 16–17: Must attend with a parent, guardian or responsible adult aged 18+ who has their own fully paid workshop booking.
Minimum Ages 14–15: May attend only when accompanied by a parent, guardian or responsible adult aged 18+ who has their own fully paid workshop booking.
Under 14: Strictly not permitted to attend.
IMPORTANT: These are strict, non-negotiable safety requirements due to the use of extremely sharp leatherworking tools, hammers and other potentially hazardous equipment.
All parents, guardians and support persons attending must be fully paid participants. No spectators or non-participating attendees are permitted due to limited workbench space and safety requirements.

Welcome to Artisan & Laer
Hi, I'm Kylie, the owner, maker and creative mind behind Artisan & Lær, a small family-owned leathercraft business based in rural Queensland in the Whitsundays region.
Horses, country life and creating things with my hands have always been a huge part of who I am, and Artisan & Lær brings all of those passions together.
What began as a creative hobby has grown into a business creating handcrafted Western tack, leather goods and accessories for customers across Australia.
I believe there is something special about owning a piece that has been designed, cut, tooled and finished by hand. In a world of mass-produced products, my focus has always been on quality over quantity, creating practical pieces that are made to be used, enjoyed and appreciated for years to come.
My hope is that many of these pieces become part of your story too, treasured through years of use and perhaps even passed down as a cherished family heirloom.
Whether it's a bridle headed for the show ring, a custom bag, or someone attending their very first workshop, my goal is always the same: to create something meaningful, practical and built to last.
When I'm not in the workshop, you'll usually find me with my horses, teaching workshops, or dreaming up the next project to bring to life.
