⚠️ Important – Please Read Before Booking

All persons attending the workshop, including participants, parents, guardians, carers, support persons, and responsible adults, must hold a paid participant booking, complete all required booking and disclosure documentation, and actively participate in the workshop for its duration. Non-participating attendees, observers, and unpaid support persons are not permitted.

These workshops are structured, hands-on training sessions conducted in a busy, group environment using a variety of sharp tools and equipment.

Participants must be able to work independently, follow instructions, and safely participate within a structured group workshop environment.

This is not a one-on-one, support-based or therapy-based environment. I do not provide exclusive or constant 1:1 individual facilitator supervision.

Leathercraft Workshops – Learn the Craft Properly

Artisan & Lær workshops are structured, hands-on leathercraft experiences designed for those wanting to properly learn the foundations of traditional leatherwork in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Workshops are generally are limited to 10 to 12 participants per session to ensure quality instruction and a genuine learning experience.

Each participant is provided with their own tool kit, apron and all materials to use for the day, that are required to complete their selected project. You will leave with a fully completed, functional leather item made by your own hands under guided instruction.

Workshop Structure

Workshops are run to a structured schedule with set break times. All participants will be expected to take breaks at the same time.

There is no working through or during breaks under any circumstances. Supervision is not provided during break periods, and participants remain responsible for their own conduct at all times.

Instruction and supervision by Artisan & Laer is only provided during designated workshop times, excluding morning tea, afternoon tea and lunch breaks.

Workshop Tiers Offered

Our Workshops are offered in two tiers; Full Day and Half Day workshops. On an individual request only, some workshops may run over multiple days for more complex, in depth products.

Full-Day Workshop Duration & Pace

Generally Run | 9:00am – 4:00pm

Full Day sessions dive deeper into leathercraft, incorporating a wider range of tools and more advanced techniques. These workshops are suited to adults and older high school students

Workshops will run to a set structure and pace. They will not be rushed, shortened, or altered to accommodate individual fatigue, discomfort, or personal preference.

Participants are expected to manage their own capacity for the duration of the workshop.

Participants are free to leave at any time; however, no refunds or partial refunds will be provided if a participant chooses not to complete the workshop or their item.

(Recommended 16+ or 14+ with a participating adult/guardian/carer/support person)

Full Day includes a 15-minute smoko break and 30-minute lunch break with basic tea and coffee refreshments included in price.

Half-Day Workshop Duration & Pace

Mornings | 10:00am – 2:00pm & Afternoons | 12:00 Noon – 4:00pm

Half Day sessions focus on foundational techniques and simplified projects. These are ideal for beginners or those wanting a lighter introduction to leatherwork.

Includes a 15-minute smoko break and 30-minute lunch break (basic refreshments included in price).

Workshops will run to a set structure and pace. They will not be rushed, shortened, or altered to accommodate individual fatigue, discomfort, or personal preference.

Participants are expected to manage their own capacity for the duration of the workshop.

Participants are free to leave at any time; however, no refunds or partial refunds will be provided if a participant chooses not to complete the workshop or their item.

Recommended age: 12+ or 10+ with a participating adult/guardian/carer/support person)

Half Day workshops include a 15-minute smoko break with basic tea and coffee refreshments included in price.

Age Guidelines

Full Day Workshops: Recommended 16+ OR 14+ with a participating adult/guardian/carer/support person.
Half Day Workshops: Recommended 12+ OR 10+ with a participating adult/guardian/carer/support person.

Dedicated school holiday workshops will be offered where availability permits for younger participants with age-appropriate projects.

Workshop Participation Requirements

These workshops are conducted in a group environment. Instruction, guidance and assistance will be provided throughout the workshop to every participant in a fair and even amount of time; however, participants must still be able to work independently between demonstrations and within a shared workshop setting.

Workshops are conducted in a group setting of up to twelve participants at one time and can be busy and at times loud, with multiple participants working simultaneously in close proximity using tools and equipment and the environment can become quite noisy at times, and all participants must be comfortable working in these conditions.

No prior leatherwork experience is required.

However, participants are still expected to:

• Work independently without constant supervision.
• Follow verbal & demonstrated instructions safely and consistently.
• Remain focused for the full duration of the workshop.
• Handle all tools and equipment safely in a shared workspace.
• Conduct themselves in a safe and respectful manner that does not compromise the safety and/or comfort of themselves or others, in line with workshop safety requirements and insurance obligations.

As these are structured group workshops, participants must be comfortable working independently within a shared, busy and at times loud environment.

I do not provide constant 1:1 supervision or individual support services in these workshops, and adults/guardians/carers and/or support workers who are not a paid participating person are not accommodated outside of the conditions outlined below or above.

These workshops are not suitable for individuals unable to meet the above requirements and we recommend perhaps booking in to one of our half day, less demanding workshops that we offer.

Participant Capability Requirement

While no prior experience is required, participants must have the capacity to follow instruction, work independently, and keep pace within a structured group setting.

These workshops are not suitable for individuals unable to meet the above requirements.

Workshops run to a set timeframe and will conclude as scheduled.

Instruction & Support

If a participant requires a parent, guardian, carer, or support person:

• That individual must be booked and attend as a fully paid participant.
• They must remain present for the entire duration of the workshop.
• They are responsible for providing all support, supervision, and assistance required by the participant throughout the workshop.
• Participants must not be left unsupervised at any time.
• All applicable booking, disclosure, and participation requirements must also be completed by the support person.
• Workshop instruction and assistance are delivered in a group setting and facilitator time is shared fairly across all participants.

Instruction, guidance, and assistance will be provided throughout the workshop, including support with tools, techniques, and project completion.

Workshops are conducted in a shared group learning environment, with facilitator time and attention distributed fairly amongst all participants. Assistance will be provided as needed; however, participants must be able to work independently between demonstrations, follow group instruction, and apply guidance provided throughout the day.

As facilitator support must remain available to all attendees, workshops are not structured to provide exclusive supervision, ongoing one-on-one tuition, or continual individual assistance.

For this reason, it is essential that participants who are unable to meet the above workshop attendance requirements independently are accompanied by a paid participating parent, guardian, carer, support person, or responsible adult for the duration of the workshop.

Failure to meet these requirements may result in refusal of entry or removal from the workshop without refund.

Our workshops are conducted in carefully planned spaces with strictly limited participant numbers and every person attending occupies valuable and limited workshop space, which significantly contributes to the overall capacity of the venue space and all persons attending the workshop are required to hold a paid workshop booking.

Workstations are intentionally carefully arranged to provide adequate working room for each participant, maintain clear, unobstructed walkways, allow the instructor unrestricted access to every workstation and attendee at each workstation, and ensure a safe working environment for all attendees and the instructor and their assistant.

This policy ensures participant numbers remain within the safe capacity of the venue while allowing adequate workspace, clear access throughout the workshop, and the consistent delivery of instruction to all participants.

Behaviour & Safety (Zero Tolerance)

Participants must be able to remain calm, follow instruction, and behave in a safe and respectful manner at all times.

The following will not be tolerated under any circumstances:
• Aggressive, threatening, or unpredictable behaviour
• Verbal abuse, inappropriate language, or disruptive conduct
• Any behaviour that causes discomfort, distress, or safety concerns for themselves or others
• Inability to follow instructions or safely use tools and equipment

Any behaviour that presents a risk — whether physical, emotional, or environmental — to the participant, other attendees, or the facilitator will result in immediate removal from the workshop without refund.

Booking & Disclosure or Requirements

All participants, including any parent, guardian, carer, support person, or responsible adult attending in a support capacity, must hold a fully paid participant booking and remain present for the duration of the workshop.

For safety, insurance, and workshop suitability purposes, participants are required to disclose any information that may affect their ability to safely, comfortably, and independently participate in a full-day, tool-based workshop environment prior to booking and attendance.

This includes any circumstance that may require additional supervision, support, assistance, behavioural management, modified instruction, a support person, or consideration of the participant's suitability for the workshop. Examples may include age, developmental stage, disability, medical conditions, behavioural considerations, difficulties with focus, attention or following instructions, sensory sensitivities, or any other factor that may impact participation, safety, or the workshop experience for themselves or others.

Participants must attend under their own name and with accurate booking details.

Failure to provide accurate information, or to disclose relevant details that may impact safety or participation, may result in refusal of participation on the day or removal from the workshop. In such circumstances, the booking will be forfeited without refund.

Artisan & Lær reserves the right to refuse participation where safety, workshop capacity, insurance requirements, or the experience of other attendees may be adversely impacted.

Participation Indemnity Requirement (Mandatory)

All participants are required to read and sign the Workshop Participation Indemnity Form given to them upon arrival, prior to commencing the workshop. This is separate to the online form completed at the time of booking.

This form is a mandatory safety and insurance requirement and is non-negotiable and not subject to amendment.

Participants who refuse to sign the indemnity form, or who do not agree to its terms in full (excluding the optional social media and photography section), will not be permitted to participate and will be refused entry to the workshop.

In such circumstances, the booking will be forfeited without refund.

Workshop Breaks

Workshops operate to a structured schedule with designated break times. All participants are expected to commence and conclude breaks at the scheduled times all together.

Participants are not permitted to continue working during designated break periods.

The workshop will resume at the advised time regardless of whether all participants have returned from their break. Workshop activities, demonstrations, and instruction will not be delayed for late returns.

Scheduled breaks will not be altered, extended, delayed, or skipped.

Where a participant attends with a parent, guardian, carer, support person, or responsible adult, that person must remain with and responsible for the participant during all break periods as well. Workshop facilitators will not provide supervision, care, behavioural support, or assume responsibility for participants during breaks.

Participation Requirements & Compliance

All participation requirements outlined above are strict and non-negotiable.

These requirements apply to all participants.

Failure to comply at any stage — before or during the workshop — may result in refusal of participation or removal from the workshop without refund.

Workshop structure, break times, participation requirements, and support person requirements will be applied consistently to all participants.

These policies are in place to protect the safety, structure, and experience of all participants and the facilitator.

Workshop Confirmation & Minimum Numbers

Each workshop requires a minimum of 8 participants to proceed.

Workshops will be confirmed 7 days prior to the scheduled date once minimum numbers have been reached.

If minimum numbers are not met, participants will be offered the option to transfer to a future workshop date of the same tier or receive a full refund.

Bookings will close 5 days prior to the workshop date to allow final preparation of materials and catering.

Pricing

Workshop pricing varies slightly depending on the project being created, as different items require varying amounts of leather, hardware and materials.

Full Day Workshops are higher priced than Half Day Workshops due to the complexity of the product, extended instruction time and full catering included.

You are essentially creating a fully completed Artisan & Lær piece under guided instruction.

Final pricing is released alongside confirmed workshop dates.

Bookings & Payment

Bookings are made directly through the website once workshop dates are released.

A separate Participant Information & Disclosure Form must be completed for every individual attending the workshop, including participants, parents, guardians, carers, support persons, and responsible adults.

Where a booking is completed on behalf of another person (with their permission), the participant's information must be completed using the attending participant's details, not the details of the person completing the forms or making payment. In other words, every person attending must be individually booked and be a fully paid participant. Participants requiring a parent, guardian, carer, and/or support person are not permitted to attend alone.

Where multiple people are attending, each attendee must be added to the cart individually and have their own Participant Information & Disclosure Form completed as part of the booking process.

Note:Multiple attendees may be paid for in a single transaction. Simply add one attendee, complete their form, then return and add the next attendee before proceeding to checkout.

CANCELLATIONS & TRANSFERS

Due to the preparation and materials required for each participant, workshop bookings are non-refundable.

If you are unable to attend, you may transfer your booking to another person at any time prior to the workshop. It is the participant's sole responsibility to arrange a replacement attendee and provide Artisan & Lær with the replacement participant's details prior to the workshop.

Artisan & Lær is not responsible for sourcing, organising, managing, or facilitating replacement participants, nor any financial arrangements between participants.

Bookings cannot be transferred to a future workshop date and no refunds, credits, or partial refunds will be provided for cancellations, non-attendance, or failure to complete the workshop.

In the event that Artisan & Lær cancels a workshop, participants will be offered either a full refund or transfer to a future workshop date.

Order Acceptance, Cancellation & Refunds

All orders and bookings are subject to review and acceptance by Artisan & Lær.

Artisan & Lær reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to refuse, cancel and/or refund any order or booking that has been submitted incorrectly, contains inaccurate, incomplete or misleading information, does not comply with our published policies, terms or mandatory requirements, or where we reasonably determine that the order, booking or proposed business relationship is not a suitable fit for our business.

Where an order or booking is cancelled, refunded or unable to proceed as a result of the customer's failure to comply with our published policies, terms, mandatory requirements or booking conditions, or due to incorrect or incomplete information supplied by the customer, Artisan & Lær reserves the right, where permitted by law, to deduct any non-refundable third-party payment processing fees and other transaction costs incurred from the refund amount.

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any rights or remedies you may have under the Australian Consumer Law.

Private & Travelling Workshops

Private group bookings, corporate sessions and travelling workshops are still available by request and subject to availability.

Travel fees may apply. A minimum 30 days notice is required for off-site bookings.
