Youโll leave with a completed leather Headstall youโve made yourself, guided step-by-step throughout the process.
What Youโll Learn
Throughout the workshop you will be guided through the full process of creating a fully tooled ladies envelope clutch, learning traditional leathercraft techniques used in the design, tooling and construction of leather goods.
Participants will work with premium vegetable-tanned leather while learning how to prepare, tool and assemble a functional leather clutch from start to finish.
Skills and techniques covered include:
โข Understanding different types of leather and their purposes
โข Creating and laying out a balanced tooling design
โข Transferring designs onto leather correctly
โข Properly casing leather and understanding why it is essential for tooling
โข Carving designs using a swivel knife
โข Creating depth and dimension through traditional tooling techniques
โข Decorative cuts and detailing to enhance the design
โข Achieving consistent stamping depth and clean impressions
โข Tips and techniques used by professional leatherworkers during the tooling process
Construction and finishing techniques include:
โข Cutting leather accurately to size and shape
โข Measuring and preparing components for construction
โข Preparing and attaching a leather lining
โข Using adhesives correctly during the assembly process
โข Decorative stitching techniques
โข Applying leather dyes and paints
โข Sealing and protecting the leatherwork
โข Edge finishing and burnishing techniques
โข Conditioning leather for durability and long-term use
By the end of the workshop you will have created a fully tooled leather envelope clutch, while learning the traditional techniques used in professional leathercraft.

Suitable For
Best suited to adults and older high school students due to the tools and techniques involved.
Recommended age: 16+ or 14+ MUST be accompanied by a participating adult.

**MINIMUM BOOKINGS REQUIRED**
A minimum of eight (8) Participants per workshop is required for these workshops to go ahead. If minimum numbers are not reached within 7 days of the scheduled date, the workshop may be rescheduled and you will be offered the choice of your booking bering transferred to the next available Artisan and Laer workshop date, or, if this date does not suit, a full refund will be offered(Cannot be transferred to any other workshops other than Artisan and Laer Workshops).
Cancellations & TransfersDue to the preparation and materials required for each participant, workshop bookings are non-refundable.
If you are unable to attend, you may transfer your booking to another person at any time prior to the workshop.
It is the participants responsibility to arrange the replacement attendee. Artisan and Laer is not responsible for sourcing or managing replacement participants.
If at least 14 days notice is provided, your booking may be transferred to a future Artisan and Laer workshop (subject to availability).
Cancellations made within less than 14 days of the workshop and no-shows on the day will not be transferred or refunded.
